Panama City area pilots look for alternative airport

Panama City-Bay County International Airport closed in June after being replaced by the new Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP), leaving local pilots to find another place to base their aircraft.

Rather than move to the new airport, some pilots are switching to the Sandy Creek Airpark, which plans to pave its grass strip. Others who need instrument approaches are moving to Marianna Municipal Airport (MAI).
