Embry-Riddle may get national aviation research center

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) in Daytona Beach held a conference last week that was attended by executives from major aviation and space companies including Boeing, Gulfstream, and Lockheed Martin, along with local business leaders, elected officials, and former FAA administrator Marion Blakey.

The event included a tour of the site of a proposed 90-acre aviation research park, which could potentially employ 2000 engineers and researchers.

ERAU also showed off some of its current research, including its role in developing a new national air traffic control system at the old Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) terminal.
